So someone uploaded a video, presumbly made with a phone, and this is how it came out http://i.imgur.com/Qz82xEA.jpg

This file ran through the mediaconverter plugin..

My max video size is set to 1280 x 720 on the media converter settings
"The maximum size to resize videos to. i.e. 640x320. Video will be contrained to their original proportions but within these maximum size limits."

It seems what the media converter does is forcefully make every video 1280x720

What are you guys doing about this? How are you handling it? I just today saw yet another person upload a mobile video, titled IMG_[number].mp4 and it looks warped like the screen shot i showed

I feel the media converter should detect the resolution and determine hey maybe i shouldnt force this to be 1280x720 or whatever

Or is this only for me?

I have now taken the $scale variable out of the $conversionPathCmd line on the converter.php and now.. videos remain at their original resolution, which I believe solves the problem

From looking at the code, it would appear that its suppose to keep the original resolution, but ive found that every single video that gets uploaded is forced to 1280x720, the current settings i have for Max Video Size: http://i.imgur.com/vySOrZ3.png

so if a user uploads a video at 320x480 , it doesnt come out looking like http://i.imgur.com/Qz82xEA.jpg , it remains 320x480

If the media converter is suppose to do this already, then there must be some bug in it, cause every video seems to end up 1280x720

If I am wrong, can anyone convince me why I should leave the $scale in the command path cmd ? or how by leaving the $scale out it could be bad
