Hi all,

We're keen to get some more payment gateways on board which permit file hosting sites and also have a good global coverage. The idea of this thread is to track any ones which can be developed (and develop them!) and log the ones which can't.

Feel free to add any comments or new ones to thread and I'll update this post.

Available:

- okpay.com
- authorize.net
- payza.com

In Development:

- webmoney

Pending Review/Development:

- daopay.com
- wmtransfer.com
- worldpay.com
- i-koruna.com

Can Not Be Done:

2checkout.com - Does not support file hosting sites.
fortumo.com - PSMS, can not be done due to PSMS pricing structure.
bitpay.com - Payment callback must be sent to a https url, no support for standard http.
dwolla.com - US merchants only.
paymentwall.com - Very limited support for file hosting sites. Only permits payment if paid upgrade period is for 1 month or less!
cashu.com - No longer accept file hosting sites.

Thanks,
Adam.

I also like this one: https://www.paysafecard.com/en-uk/
Uploaded.to uses them as well as Rapidgator.net

It's apart from bitcoin one of my favourites - they have worldwide distribution (even in EU as it is UK based) and it's backed by a lot of news stands and gas stations => 100% anonymous and secure for clients.

I've no idea how difficult it is to apply for merchant account or to implement it but I assume it's more or less about the same as bitpay.

What about a generic Authorize.net gateway? It would probably be a little more involved then api based gateways but I know I'd use it =)

On a side note, apparently paypal no longer allows file hosts as I've discovered with my permanent account suspension for violation of the AUP.

Here is the message I got from paypal.
Code:
We are hereby notifying you that, after a recent review of your account
activity, it has been determined that you are in violation of PayPal's
Acceptable Use Policy regarding your sales / offers on

Therefore, your account has been permanently limited.

You will need to remove all references to PayPal from your website/s and/or
auction/s. This includes not only removing PayPal as a payment option, but
also the PayPal logo and/or shopping cart.

The PayPal User Agreement states that PayPal, at its sole discretion,
reserves the right to limit an account for any violation of the User
Agreement, including the Acceptable Use Policy.

Under the Acceptable Use Policy, you must obtain pre-approval to accept
payments for file sharing, BitTorrent or usenet websites as well as for
newsgroups or similar services.

The complete Acceptable Use Policy can be found at the following URL:
https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=ua/AcceptableUse_full&locale.x=en_US

To learn more about the Acceptable Use Policy, please refer to our Help
Center page here:

We thank you in advance for your cooperation. If you have any questions,
please contact the PayPal Brand Risk Management Department at
[email protected].

Sincerely,
Michael
PayPal, Brand Risk Management
PayPal, an eBay Company
Its worth mentioning that whenever they do this, whatever money you have in your account gets held for 180 days.

On that note would it be possible to have a configuration item to disable paypal?

I was also wondering if that was possible - to disable PayPal.

We're working towards PayPal being a plugin but included as standard still in the core script. It'll mean you can disable it if you have other payment gateways.

PayPal don't completely disallow file hosting sites, their terms state that you must get prior approval from them before running any. (although they do seem to need a lot of access to the sites!) It's a difficult one as PayPal are probably the most recognised, at least in my part of the world, so there is still a benefit to having it if you get the prior approval.

I've got a few devs working on other payment gateways over the next few weeks so you'll hopefully have more to choose from soon. :)

Thanks,
Adam.

Thanks Adam,
as soon as Payza is ready I will disable the paypal account myself (even though have not been limited yet). These guys are crazy and will ban you whenever they like for any reason. If mega could not deal with them I can't imagine I could.

Btw. if there is any doubt if PayPal is crazy see this:
PayPal Tells A Buyer To Destroy A $2,500 Antique Violin Instead Of Returning It For A Refund
http://articles.businessinsider.com/2012-01-04/strategy/30587786_1_paypal-counterfeit-goods-antique-violin

and the original source: http://www.regretsy.com/2012/01/03/from-the-mailbag-27/

I am now out a violin that made it through WWII as well as $2500
=> violin survived World War II, but could not survive PayPal.

This literally says it all, I know it's going to be difficult to educate customers to switch from PayPal but there is no other way.

Yeah agreed they're not the best. I've scheduled the dev work to move it to a bundled plugin for the next release. Then you can at least choose to use them or not.

We're working on these other FH plugins and a release on our core short url script, so the next FH release should be in 4-5 weeks.

Thanks,
Adam.

Not sure this is the best place to ask but has anyone had problems with Skrill? After paypal killed me I bought the addon for skrill and signed up with them. I just got this email.
Code:
Thank you for your interest in Skrill.

Due to high demand for our services, we cannot currently accept you as a merchant.

We wish you every success with your venture.

Kind regards
Which sucks because now I have no way to accept payments

See this topic:

It's just another PayPal - stay away from them.

You might have to edit the language in the adminCP

ACP > Configuration > Translations > manage translations > In the "Filter Results:" box put: terms_and_conditions_text then click on edit and add the text there

Adam, I was wondering - how is the development going? It's almost 3 weeks since the last betatest.
Thanks

Hi all,

Payza plugin is out and available via YetiShare.com. More coming soon... :)

Regards,
Adam.

PS - We're also releasing an FTP upload plugin tomorrow for cPanel users and a minor update to enable the PayPal gateway to be disabled.
