Quoting my original post from the other subforum
I propose something where this problem doesnt happen anymore. where if a mobile user uploads a video at a resolution of say 320x480 then it should stay that way , not forcefully turned into the resolution defined by the media converter settingsSo someone uploaded a video, presumbly made with a phone, and this is how it came out http://i.imgur.com/Qz82xEA.jpg
This file ran through the mediaconverter plugin..
My max video size is set to 1280 x 720 on the media converter settings
"The maximum size to resize videos to. i.e. 640x320. Video will be contrained to their original proportions but within these maximum size limits."
It seems what the media converter does is forcefully make every video 1280x720
If I change the setting to 640x320 then it messes up the videos or movies people upload and those wont look right. But if i keep it at 1280x720, they look right but then when users upload cell phone videos, it looks like this http://i.imgur.com/Qz82xEA.jpg
Basically what I think needs to happen is, the media converter needs to not necessarily change the resolution of a video or force it to change
It should detect what it is, and then set it to that..
So if a user uploads a video that is like a cell phone resolution, then when it goes to convert it should convert using that same resolution, not turning it into this http://i.imgur.com/Qz82xEA.jpg
