same long url creates new short url

Hello,

If I come back to to the main page and enter in a url that was entered before and click GO I get a new short URL. Should it not just return what it already generated?

I am concerned because I am going to use the API to generate shortened affiliate links and the same url could be submitted many many times.

Is this the normal behavior or is there an option to change this behavior?

Hi Mike,

Yes this is normal behaviour. It's needed so we can manage the stats independant from the url.

So, if someone created a url you had already generated, you wouldn't want them to also instantly see a load of stats for the url.

Later, we're releasing an update which allows for user registration so this become even more relevant.
